WIP - The Quality of Mercy
I don't enjoy a lot of what is called horror in popular culture, as it seems to conflate the idea of horror with being grossed out by graphic violence. To me, the essence of true horror is the creeping sense that something awful is going to happen and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do to stop it. I wanted to play in this territory and experiment with the idea that maybe one could juice the horror by setting up a scenario where a comparatively small thing could have been done but wasn't. This story is the result, and I hope you enjoy it.
